Calm Canines Control Unleashed
Calm Canines Control Unleashed is an empowering approach to working with our dogs that emphasizes agency, choice and communication. Developed by Leslie McDevitt, the CU training techniques emphasize teaches dogs how to remain calm and focused in the presence of distractions and triggers. One of the key strengths of this approach is its focus on building trust and communication between you and your dog. CU methods are particularly valuable for dogs that are over-reactive, anxious, or have difficulty in new environments. By encouraging dogs to make choices and rewarding calm behaviors, CU fosters a sense of confidence and emotional resilience in dogs, helping them navigate the world with greater ease. We offer two classes using CU methods including Control Unleased® Foundations and Control Unleashed® Next Level.
Control Unleashed® Classes
Control Unleashed® Foundations
The Control Unleashed® Foundations is a four-week class designed to help you and your dog develop the foundational CU skills in calm, focus, self-control, and emotional regulation. This class is ideal for dogs who may be reactive, anxious, or easily distracted, providing them with the tools to stay calm and attentive in everyday situations. Humans will learn how better communicate with their dog, and how to give their dog choice and control in challenging environments. The class also emphasizes fostering a strong, trusting bond between you and your dog, so you can both succeed in any setting. Suitable for dogs of all ages, the CU foundations provide a powerful start for a well-behaved, happy companion.

Control Unleashed® Next Level
Our Control Unleashed® (CU) Next Level class is designed for dogs who have successfully completed the Control Unleashed® Foundations class and are ready to take their CU skills to the next level. Building on CU foundational skills, this class focuses on teaching you how to use simple, highly effective counter-conditioning pattern games to help you and your dog navigate stressful situations. You'll learn how to implement these pattern games, designed to build your dog’s confidence and focus, and help them regulate their emotions, even in challenging environments. Whether your goal is to have your dog walk calmly past distractions or work off-leash near triggers, pattern games will give your dog the tools to stay calm and focused.

Control Unleashed® Workshops
Control Unleashed® Foundation Skills
This 3 hour workshop will introduce teams to many of the CU foundation skills and games. Mat work, Take A Breath, Up Down, and Give Me A Break will be introduced in a dog safe environment. These skills and games are excellent anchors for all dogs and their humans as we navigate life, dog sports and specifically challenging situations.
Control Unleashed® Advanced Games
This 3 hour workshop is for teams who have attended CU foundation skills and games and are ready for some more CU games. 1-2-3, Parallel games, and LATTE will be introduced in a dog safe environment. Depending on the individual teams, we will incorporate CU foundation skills, explore new games and have teams work on specific arrangements that can help support their goals.
